Planning a trip to Batumi in 2025 but on a tight budget? You’re not aloneI was there recently and made it work with less than €30 per day. In this guide, I’ll share all the tips, hidden gems, and personal tricks that helped me explore Batumi like a local without breaking the bank.

Budget Friendly Batumi Travel Guide

Where to Stay in Batumi on a Budget

When I saw the hotel prices in Batumi, I decided to stay at one. You can book a lovely hotel for around €20-25 a night. If you prefer staying in a hostel, the price drops to about half. Most tourists stay at the Orbi City Hotel, located right on the beachfront, but I stayed at Station 22 Hotel. During New Year’s, they surprised me with a special holiday package that included Batumi’s famous wine — such a thoughtful gesture!

1- ) Exchanging Currency at Batumi Airport - Why It’s Not Worth It

Right after landing at Batumi International Airport, I spotted a currency exchange booth. Feeling confident, I headed straight there, handed over my money—and was shocked to get way fewer Georgian Lari than I expected. My excitement quickly turned into disappointment. But it didn’t take long to realize that Batumi is absolutely full of currency exchange offices. Honestly, you can’t walk more than a few steps without seeing one. Moral of the story: only exchange €5 at the airport—just enough to get into the city.

Batumi Airport to City Center: Budget-Friendly Transport Options

Batumi Airport Bus Number

Here’s the budget-friendly bus you’ll want to catch in Batumi!

For a budget-friendly Batumi trip, skip the taxis — they’re unnecessarily expensive. I checked the prices myself: a regular taxi ride costs around 8.25 €. There’s a ride-hailing app called Bolt that offers better prices, but if you really want to save money, take Bus #10. As you exit the airport, you’ll see the bus stop right across the street. For just 0.65 €, you can get to the city center comfortably and affordably.

Georgia Weather - Watch Out for the Rain!

When I first arrived in Batumi, I didn’t pack an umbrella — the weather looked perfect. But soon, dark clouds rolled in and I got soaked. I had to buy an umbrella for €10, which wasn’t ideal. Why spend extra if you don’t have to?

Always pack an umbrella when traveling to Batumi on a budget. It saves you money and keeps you dry. For more budget-saving tips, check out Clever Ways to Save Money for Travel.
