1 Meter of Snow A Scenic Cable Car Journey to Uludag's Summit

From Istanbul to Bursa: My adventure begins!

How to go to bursa from istanbul by ferry

I started my day early by taking the ferry from Istanbul to Bursa. I chose BUDO, one of the two main ferry companies. The trip took about 1 hour 45 minutes and offered a beautiful view of the sea. After arriving at Mudanya port, I took the F3 bus to cable car station. This trip was a relaxing and scenic way to explore both the sea and the mountains of Bursa.

If you want to take a ferry from Istanbul to Bursa, there are two companies.

Arrival at the cable car station!

When I arrived at the cable car station, I checked the weather on my phone and saw it was -5°C at the top of Uludağ. Deciding to warm up before heading up, I treated myself to a hot bowl of soup. After all, no one wants to face the cold without some warmth first! A hot soup is a perfect way to prepare for an adventurous day on the mountain. Stay warm, folks!

I was going to Uludag and I was so excited!

When I took the cable car up to Uludağ, it felt like the city was right under my feet. The last time I saw such majestic mountains was in Batumi. The cable car ticket cost about $10, but it was totally worth it! The 35-40 minute ride offered breathtaking views that left me speechless. Sometimes you just think “it can’t get any better than this”. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Arrival in Uludag!

As soon as I got off the cable car, I could feel the change in the weather. There had been a lot of snow and the air was so crisp. After the noise and crowds of the city, this peaceful atmosphere was a real breath of fresh air. Now it’s time to explore the mountain! The serenity and beauty of nature here really helps you reconnect with yourself. Sometimes nature is all we need to recharge.

Uludag walking

I went hiking high up in Uludag. As I climbed, one by one the people disappeared and I was left alone with nature. Surrounded by magnificent trees and the serene beauty of the landscape, I felt completely at peace. It’s amazing how nature can make you forget the world so quickly and find true peace. The beauty of Uludag is something you have to experience. It was an incredible experience for my mental and physical health.

I recently injured my foot, so I haven’t been able to ski, but don’t worry! If you’re planning to visit, I’ve researched the best ski gear for you. I talked to local vendors and got some great recommendations. With the right gear, you’ll be ready to hit the slopes in no time! Make sure you’re fully prepared for an unforgettable skiing experience!

When you arrive at the Uludağ Ski Resort, you’ll notice that there are many shops where you can rent ski equipment. This can be overwhelming, but don’t worry – I have some tips for you. I checked out several rental shops and the prices vary. On average, renting a full set of skis for a day will cost you anywhere from $42 to $70.

Here’s the most important tip: always negotiate. Trust me, you can definitely get these prices down by haggling.

As for me, I recently injured my foot, so I decided to skip the skis and enjoy the snow with just a plastic bag. It turned out to be a fun and unique way to experience the beauty of nature.
